Lienkie’s Not So Fancy Scones
This recipe was volunteered by Erilene Lamprecht
This is my go to recipe when we have guests over or when my family is craving something sweet. It takes only 20 minutes to make.
Most of us have all the ingredients in our homes.
Our favorite way to eat then is with strawberry jam and whipped cream. Delicious!
For starters you want to preheat your oven at 395 F
Here’s what you need:
- 2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 15 ml Baking Powder
- 2 ml Salt
- 150 ml Milk
- 1 Egg
- 30 ml oil. I use olive oil.
*You may substitute the All purpose flour for Gluten free All purpose flour. It turns out perfect. And you may also substitute cow’s milk for almond milk. I do not like any other nut milk or oat milk. Almond milk is my favorite, but you can experiment.
Here’s how you make it:
- Sift together the dry ingredients.
- Whisk the milk, egg, and oil together.
- Now make a hole in the middle of your dry mix and add the milk mixture to it. I use a butter knife to cut it into the dry mixture. Then I roll it into a beautiful ball.
- If the dough is sticky, sprinkle a little flour on it and lightly work it in.
- Now twist your ball in the center and break it in half. Roll and twist new balls and repeat until you have eight small balls.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and space your scones at least a tiny bit apart.
- I lightly press down on them to flatten then just a little.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes.
Enjoy!
